kibbutz degania

Kibbutz Degania (sometimes Deganya) is two smaller kibbutzim (Degania Alef and Degania Bet).

Both are situated on the south shore of the Sea of Galilee - a few miles south of Tiberias and a few miles north of Mizpe Elot Reserve.

This kibbutz was founded in 1910, by settlers of Romanian descent.

Degania is considered a small kibbutz by todays standard, though it has produced some of Israels most famous people, including Moshe Dayan.

Of course, Degania is for agriculture, but also has Refet (cowshed) and many orchards - but it also has other industries including "toolgal" - a factory producing high tech tools.

Fact

Degania was the first ever Kibbutz.

Degania has never had seperate childrens quarters.
